Andy talks about his experience at the world famous Kaufman Astoria Studios Music & Sound:
“It all started with a friend of mine, George Georgiatis. George is one of those old school audio guys that will build the gear he needs in order to get the job done. He has been an important mentor for me since I started producing. I had an idea of rehearsing my music in a great studio and capture some live footage as a practice run for upcoming shows.
He called one of his old buddies Joe Castellon, who runs the Kaufamn Astoria Studios’ Sound & Music Recording Facility. We set up a date and met two days ahead of time to check out the facilities. And what great facilities they have! An amazing live room with stunning acoustics and a beautiful old Neve V3-60 console. Placido Domingo, Keith Richards, Jennifer Hudson and Andrea Bocelli, to name a few, have all recorded at KAS Sound.
This is also when I got to meet Bernard Fox. His resume is over 4 pages long and includes the biggest names in Music, Film and Theater. Bernard has built and invented a lot of the gear that is now common and indispensable in today’s music productions.
The most fun was hearing Joe, Bernard and George talk about the old times. I couldn’t stop smiling hearing these crazy stories. 150 years of audio experience in one room.
The rehearsal/ shoot went great. I had a blast! It was one of my favorite studio experiences. Joe and Bernard were running the board that day when I did my session, working with those two was just stellar!
KAS Sound & Music is always looking for new talent and clients. I highly recommend doing your recordings there. Bernard is also available for private lessons and teaching. You won’t find anybody better to mentor you on anything related to audio and production. There’s a link for KAS and Bernard Fox on my website.”
